The Dutch government says it wants to heavily tax the most fuel-inefficient cars.

Petrol cars emission more than 240 g/km of CO2 would pay an extra €80-90 in registration taxes for every gram over the 240 mark; the diesel threshold would be 200 g/km. The proposals also envisage emissions-based differentiation in new car taxes.
